Every business has its lingo and the world of scholarships is no exception. Click on "Types of Scholarships" for a brief introduction and useful reference resource.
A couple of noteworthy items/tips:
FAIR(CTSO) - is the ONE STO everyone should apply to. Since this is the diocesan one, we have a little more flexibility with this one!
AAA - This is strictly Corporate and DD funding. It's a good one since once approved, it's good for 3 yrs. However, AAA does not allow "stacking". For this reason, only apply if your family qualifies for 100% award ONLY.
Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is not a Student Tuition Organization (STO). It is a state program and has very specific criteria to qualify and also does not allow stacking. Once approved, the student is funded through high school. However, we are finding that the increase from middle school to high school is not enough to cover the tuition. They have their own method to calculate their awards.
We strongly encourage you to review the attached Types of Scholarships which describe the criteria for the different types of funding available. Everyone qualifies for Individual! The criteria gets a little more specific with the other 3 types: Plus, Switcher, and Corporate. Incoming Kinder students also automatically qualify for the Switcher funds in most cases.
Additionally, Recommended Funds/Referral Funds (when family members, friends, or co-workers donate to a specific student) are a great way to secure scholarships as well. It's a win/win opportunity for all involved!
As you go through each STO on the list (see Financial Assistance page), based on what they have to offer and based on the criteria provided, apply to all the opportunities available to you. If you are not sure, apply anyway! The more you apply, the more opportunities you have to receive different scholarships that can then be "stacked" or added to each other so as to cover as much of the tuition as possible.
God calls us to grow in faith, lovingly serve, and grow in knowledge.
