Text Box: We will be using the Prentice Hall text book , supplemented with hands-on activities, experiments, and other “stuff”.  I’m quite excited about this technologically enhanced text, as it provides links to content, diagrams in motion and mini-self correcting assessments. Additionally, the curriculum has been updated, so that it is better balanced between the three domains of Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science Text Box: 7th Grade Seventh graders will be starting the year with a general science overview, which will include terminology, metrics and some chemistry review.  We will then progress to Cells and Genetics, Human Biology, and Light and Sound. 8th Grade Eight graders will start the year with a very quick  terminology , metric and earth science overview.  Next we will lead into the Earth’s waters, Animals (emphasizing ocean creatures and including some dissection), Chemistry and Motion and Force.   Text Box: Welcome to Junior High Science! Grading will be a mixture of points and weighted categories.  Homework, participation, activities, notes, etc. will constitute 40% of the quarter grade, with tests, quizzes, and  major projects making up the other 60%.
